“Aromas of a firm young peach with a very nice Pear”…that’s what he said…not sure if he’s talking about the wine or the blonde! Now to the palate…hmmm, extremely rich with the essence of Pineapple Brule. It’s a higher acidic driven juice which will make it great to pair with food, and aesthetic tropical fruit components are hidden deep in this mysterious, minerality focused wine.
Asian pear, pineapple and lemon peel establish the fragrance of this wine. Like flavors follow these aromas with the addition of lilikoi on the palate. This wine is so clean, and yet so complex. With no malo-lactic fermentation, and small amounts of oak help round out the wine to make it my favorite Estate Chardonnay to date!
Our current release of 2010 Estate Pinot Noir is beginning to open up beautifully. Bright black cherry abounds in the sprightly mouth, alongside fresh rhubarb and blackberries seemingly picked right off the bush. The natural purity of this young, deep beauty will lead you to anticipate the serene, round mouthfeel that fuses with the softening tannins for a refined finish in this youthful Pinot. Drink from now through 2017.
Our current release of Reserve Pinot Noir opens up beautifully after a bit of decanting. Gorgeous blackberry pie, pomegranate jam, cola, and subtle spice flood the supple round palate. This is a jaunty young wine - with patience and a little more time, the deep, rich elegance that is hinted at now with its soft young tannins, will develop and meld into an expansive silky, smooth, classically beautiful Reserve Pinot that you’ll talking about long after it’s gone. Drink now through 2020.
Our first venture into 100% concrete fermented and aged red wine. This inaugural vintage is 100% Pinot Noir from our estate vineyard. The bouquet is vivacious and beautiful with endless red fruit and floral aromas. These flavors carry to the palate which is also extremely balanced with a texture unique to the terroir from our Estate and the delicate aging process in the concrete. The finish is exquisite with just a hint of spice that lingers.
The nose is reminiscent of warm strawberry rhubarb pie, sugar plums and violets. The complexity of the palate is defined by red fruits, with underlying notes of wild sage, roasted fennel and tobacco leaves. This is a dense Grenache which can be paired with hearty dishes like roasted elk medallions or a dry rubbed central coast tri tip.
Our cool climate Syrah is delightfully elegant while at the same time hearty thanks to its earthy flavors. Fresh picked blackberries, similar to those which grow here along Jack Creek, and Japanese plums waft from the glass. The palate has finely integrated tannins which interlace between notes of olallieberry, sarsaparilla, and a delicious blend of herbs and spices.
The nose opens with notes of brioche and Meyer lemon zest. The palate boasts tropical fruits such as pineapple and kiwi, perfectly balanced with fresh acidity and a layer of luscious meringue on the finish. Our Estate Chardonnay is aged 9 months in 100% French Oak (25% new) and follows the tradition of no malo-lactic fermentation. At this point Doug and Sab’s favorite Estate Chardonnay vintage ever! Our 2011 vintage produced about half the size of our normal production. These wines will be released in the Fall Wine Family Allocation but we do not have any for sale.
Although there’s little of it, this beautiful vintage perfectly showcases the Kruse Vineyard terroir bursting with ripe cherries and balanced with a complex layer of chalky minerality. The mouthfeel features soft tannins that will become more refined with age, a bounty of red fruit with a coveting finish of cocoa powder. This young wine will gracefully age for 5 years. Our 2011 vintage produced about half the size of our normal production. These wines will be released in the Fall Wine Family Allocation but we do not have any for sale.
The Reserve is always comprised of specially selected barrels of Pinot Noir from our Estate which presents a more abundant bodied wine. The 2011 vintage is no exception with intriguing flavors of sweet and savory spices interlaced between strawberries, black cherries and herbs. The young tannins are quite firm and the acid is pronounced relaying the message of age-ability for this bottling, up to 7 years. The long elegant finish seems to linger forever making this an incredibly memorable Pinot Noir experience. Our 2011 vintage produced about half the size of our normal production. These wines will be released in the Fall Wine Family Allocation but we do not have any for sale.
